Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, store, and share your personal information — and the choices you have about it.
Last updated: April 20, 2026In this policy, "Versatile Delivery" (also "The Versatile Express", "we", "us", or "our") refers to the company and the platform it operates at versatiledelivery.ca and any related mobile or web applications. It does not cover personal information collected from our employees or contractors in the course of their work.
Overview
Versatile Delivery takes your privacy and data security seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and when we share it with third parties. We aim to be clear about those practices so you can decide how you want to use our service.
Some vendors and restaurants use Versatile Delivery to fulfil orders placed through their own websites, apps, or point-of-sale systems. When that happens, any data we receive from those partners is handled in accordance with this policy.
By visiting or using Versatile Delivery, you consent to the collection, use, storage, disclosure, and transfer of your personal information as described here. For anything outside what we describe below, we will ask for explicit consent; in some cases consent may be implied by your conduct (for example, placing an order).
If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not use Versatile Delivery, navigate away from the site, and uninstall the app.
Information We Collect
The categories of personal information we collect depend on how you use the platform.
Customer accounts
Customers sign in with a phone number and a one-time verification code sent by SMS. We store your phone number and, optionally, your full name. We use your phone number to verify your identity at sign-in, tie orders to your account, and contact you about an active order when needed.
Vendor, driver, and staff accounts
Vendors, drivers, and administrators sign in with an email address and a password, which we store as a secure hash. For drivers, we also collect vehicle details (make, model, licence plate) and your live location while you are on shift, so we can dispatch and display your position to the customer whose order you are carrying. For vendors, we collect business name and description, contact phone and email, pickup address, delivery radius, operating hours, tax and cancellation settings, and menu content you choose to publish.
Placing an order
When you place an order we record the items you ordered, quantities, prices, any special instructions, the pickup and drop-off addresses (including latitude and longitude so we can route drivers), the selected payment method, and timestamps for each status change (accepted, ready, picked up, delivered, or cancelled).
Payment information depends on the method you choose. Card-at-checkout payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card number on our servers. Stripe returns a customer identifier and a saved-payment-method token (brand, last four digits, expiry month/year) that we keep so you can reuse cards on future orders. If you pay with cash or card at the door, we record the payment method you chose but no card details.
If you order age-restricted items (for example, alcohol), you may be asked to show government-issued identification at delivery to confirm you are of legal age. We do not store copies of that identification.
Saved addresses
You can save delivery addresses (with an optional label such as "Home" or "Work" and notes for the driver). We store the address, latitude and longitude, and any notes you add. Address autocomplete and geocoding are powered by Mapbox.
Order photos
Drivers may capture photos at pickup and drop-off as proof of delivery or to document condition. These photos are attached to the order and visible to you, the vendor, and our staff. They are stored on our servers.
Ratings and reviews
You may rate and leave written comments about vendors and drivers after an order is delivered. Your rating is visible to the vendor or driver and contributes to their public average rating; your comment may be visible alongside the average. We may use reviews in marketing materials where we have your consent to do so.
Contact and support
When you contact us with a question or concern, we collect the information you provide (name, email, phone number, and the content of your message) so we can respond, keep a record of our correspondence, and improve our service. Voice calls may be recorded for training and quality purposes.
Information We Collect Automatically
When you use Versatile Delivery, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information: IP address, approximate location when you use the mobile app, device identifiers, browser and operating system details, language preferences, referring URLs, length of visit, and pages viewed. We use this information to keep the service running, diagnose problems, detect abuse, and improve the experience.
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to remember preferences. A cookie is a small piece of data stored by your browser. Most browsers accept cookies by default; you can configure yours to notify you when cookies are set or to reject them, but if you disable the cookies we use for sign-in, parts of the service will not work.
We do not currently use third-party advertising networks or cross-site tracking cookies. If that changes in the future, we will update this policy and — where required — ask for your consent.
Service Providers We Use
We rely on a short list of trusted third parties to run the platform. Each one receives only the information it needs to perform its function:
Stripe — card payment processing. Receives payment details and a customer identifier.
Twilio — SMS delivery for sign-in codes and order updates. Receives your phone number and the message content.
Mapbox — address autocomplete, geocoding, and mapping. Receives the address text you enter and the coordinates we display.
Mailgun — outbound email from admin@versatiledelivery.ca. Receives your email address and the message content.
Square — optional point-of-sale integration for vendors. Used only if a vendor connects their Square account; receives menu and order data for that vendor.
Disclosure of Personal Information
Your personal information is stored on servers hosted in Canada or the United States. It may be accessed by Versatile Delivery staff and authorized contractors for the purposes set out in this policy.
While your information is outside Canada, it is subject to the laws of the country where it is held and may be disclosed to governments, courts, or law enforcement agencies of that country under those laws. Some countries do not have equivalent data protection laws; our safeguards continue to apply regardless.
In the normal course of fulfilling an order, we share the information required for that order: vendors see the order details and customer name, drivers see the pickup and drop-off addresses and the customer's phone number, and customers see the driver's name, vehicle, and live location during delivery.
If our business is involved in a sale, merger, or reorganization, your personal information may be transferred to the new owners, on the condition that it continues to be used in accordance with this policy.
We may use or disclose your personal information where required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, to prevent fraud, in response to a valid legal process, or to investigate suspected breaches or harm to persons or property.
Safeguarding and Retention
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, unlawful processing, and accidental loss, destruction, or damage. Access is restricted to staff and authorized service providers who need it to do their jobs. Passwords are stored as secure hashes; payment card numbers are never stored on our servers.
We retain your information for as long as we have a legitimate business need — typically while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward, or to meet legal, tax, or accounting obligations. Some data may be retained longer in aggregated or de-identified form for fraud prevention, analytics, or account recovery, or where required by law.
To close your account or request deletion of your personal information, email admin@versatiledelivery.ca. Because some order and payment records must be retained for legal and accounting reasons, it may not be possible to delete every trace of your information immediately.
No transmission over the internet is ever fully secure. We use reasonable safeguards once we receive your information, but any transmission to us is at your own risk. Versatile Delivery may also link to third-party websites that are not covered by this policy — we are not responsible for how those sites handle your information.
Access and Withdrawal of Consent
You have the right to access, update, and correct your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions. You can update most profile information directly in the app; for anything else, email us using the contact details below. We may ask for information to verify your identity before acting on a request.
You may withdraw or change your consent to any ongoing or future collection and use of your personal information at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide some or all of the service.
Updates to This Policy
This Privacy Policy is current as of the "Last updated" date shown at the top. Your continued use of Versatile Delivery after any change constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We may update the policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the services we use — please check back periodically for the latest version.
